What are we doing to this world?

Darren & I went to the Winsor Gallery the other day to see some of Chris Jordan's amazing photography. These are from "Running the Numbers: An American Self Portrait"

Seeing it visually is even more shocking and disturbing than just hearing the stats. This one depicts 32,000 Barbies, equal to the number of elective breast augmentation surgeries performed monthly in the US in 2006.

Here it is close up.

Depicts 60,000 plastic bags, the number used in the US every five seconds.

This depicts two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every five minutes.

Here's one for Suds...it depicts 11,000 jet trails, equal to the number of commercial flights in the US every eight hours.

Pretty crazy, hey?? All the close ups and lots more photos can be found on his website at www.chrisjordan.com if anyone's interested.
