Holy Birthdays Batman!

We went to the island last week to visit Darren's Mom, Gail, on her birthday last week. I can't believe how many Tauruses (spelling??) are in my life! Me, Hilary, Dad, Gail, Francis, Sarah, Charlene and Adele all had our birthdays in the last 3 weeks, which has made for a lot of dinners out!

When we went out for Charlene's birthday dinner at Anducci's where the portions are huge, I bet Darren $100.00 that he couldn't finish his plate. Big mistake!! The table had been cleared of everyone else's plates, but Darren the trooper carried on and actually finished it!!

All was fine and dandy until about 5 minutes into the car ride home when we had to pull over because the seatbelt was too tight on his tummy! lol

After some walking back and forth and lying down in the back seat of the car to relieve the pressure, poor Darren had to lighten his load at the side of the road (hey that rhymes!). I felt so bad, having egged him on, but I had to hide my face a few times as I rubbed his back because I could not stop myself from laughing hysterically!!

Seeing how he only managed to keep the dinner down for about 10 minutes my opinion is that he lost the bet. No dough if you blow! Darren, of course, does not agree with this.....what do you think???

Austa La Vista Baby

It was fun while it lasted but, unfortunately, Sarah & Suds had to go back to Hong Kong earlier this week. It was a nice long visit and hopefully they will be back soon!

I think the local bottle collectors must eagerly anticipate their visits almost as much as I do! They are going to make a fortune on champagne bottles.

Baby Shower for Barb & Otto!

Last Sunday we had a baby shower for Barb at my place.

Here are the baby & Mom of the hour!

There were lots of yummy appies and some fun games, which included baby food testing.

Even Suds was brave and tried it out later on but as you can see from Sarah's face, baby food is surprisingly NASTY! Yes, she just ate the baby food, not one of my appies! I think that when the time comes I will have to make my own because I don't know if I can subject my poor children to that kind of torture......well at least not the green beans and peas anyway!

I actually thought at one point that it might be fun to go on a baby food diet because it's really low cal and very inexpensive. I have since changed my mind, not only because it tastes like crap, but because that is just plain weird!

There was also a game I like to call "diaper surprise" which I am sure you can figure out. The girls who got a "surprise" also won a prize if they could taste it and tell me what it was. Yuck!

Here is Mom practicing to be a Gramma. Good thing you've got some more time to practice! Ha ha. Let me know when you figure out how to stop them from crying!

Sarah was visiting from Hong Kong and got to come to the shower. Fortunately Matt & Kristi's wedding the night before didn't leave her feeling as crappy as poor Suds did!

It was a really great day for catching up with old friends and visiting the cutest new addition to the Korycki/Nemeth family!

Barb & Otto both got spoiled!

And even Jacob got some cool loot too.

A Weekend In The Kootenays

I had to head up to Nelson for a big Motorcycle Extravagana weekend for work at the end of April, so Adele, Bill and I set off with our traveling companions Ella Blue and Jesse James on the 9 hour drive.

The drive up is gorgeous.....the part I caught between naps, that is.

We had an awesome time up there, as we always do in the Kootenays! We stayed at our Area Rep, Dave & his wife Susan's house in Procter, which is always so much fun.

They have a beautiful home right on the beach complete with a golden retreiver, Sunny, 7 cats, some ducks and a beautiful view.

Susan is an incredible artist, so the house is bright and colourful with her amazing paintings hanging everywhere.

I just love it there! My favorite paintings are the pregnant woman and the one with the cat.

Dad's Birthday!

A whole bunch of us went out for a huge sushi feast at Akasaka in Surrey for Dad's birthday on April 25th.

With 4 kids on Charlene's side and 3 on Dad's, plus Chrissie, Nicki, Darren, Sarah & Suds it was very cozy!

The sushi was incredible and I highly recommend it! They had really creative rolls.....my favorite was the Crispy Roll.

It's Springtime in New Westminster!

Wow! It has been a while since I have had any time to update the old blog. Here are some pictures of our neighborhood in the spring.
I think this is my favorite time of year with all of the cherry blossoms in bloom.......although, funnily enough, I took these pictures 2 weeks ago, so as I write this all the blossoms are stuck to the roof of our car and all over the ground, but it was great while they lasted!

We also have some beautiful tulips in the front yard thanks to Joel & Tiffany!
